This month the Unicomer Group opened its MegaStore in Aruba, a one-stop shopping concept with 6 brands under one roof including AMC Unicon, Ashley HomeStore, Optica Unicon, Home and Nature, RadioShack and Smit & Dorlas Coffee Shop, offering a large assortment of products for everyday living, entertainment and enjoyment. Optica Unicon is the first optical store opened by the Unicomer Group in Aruba and is the 125th optical of the group. The Optica Unicon is the first optical store to offer inhouse financing for customers in Aruba. The group has 9 stores and over 130 associates in Aruba and operates more than 1,100 stores throughout the region, but the AMC Unicon MegaStore is the first store that includes a full-fledged coffee shop, to serve its customers with top notch coffee, tea and other refreshments.
In November 2017 the Unicomer Group initiated the kick-off of the over USD 9 million project and 18 months later, accomplished a beautiful new store with six unique store concepts on a prime location in Aruba. The development of this unique building was handled with local companies, which shows the expertise, experience, willingness and know-how of the group on the Island to accomplish projects of this magnitude. With the new store, the group contributed substantially to the Aruban economy, creating new job opportunities and giving this location on the LG Smith Blvd a new, fresh, boulevard-worthy look and feel. As part of the group´s commitment to environmental sustainability, the Mega Store has over 100kwp of Solar Power generation and is energy friendly having all LED Lighting.
With the project investment the group will benefit both the local economy and Unicomer Aruba to re-affirm its commitment to positively impact the wellbeing of the countries where it operates.
